Turner and Hastings win down under

Phillip Island Circuit in Victoria, Australia was the site of this week’s Red Sox Racing League event, the “Bass Coast Shire 30 at Phillip Island”.  The scenic 2.76 mile, 12 corner track is a driver favorite because of its proximity to the deep blue waters of the Bass Straight which separates the Australian mainland from Tasmania.  Technically challenging, the circuit includes an incredibly long front stretch on which drivers reach maximum speeds before negotiating a pair of high-speed turns that lead into a tight hairpin.  The back section of the course includes drastic elevation changes leading to another hairpin and a critical multi apex turn which leads to the long front straightway.  The hilly section known as Lukey Heights through turns nine and ten is often the site of crucial [...]
