first time wiring a motor

Can somebody help me with how to wire an engine? I have a pin vise and detail master engine wire. Iv tried to drill the holes in the distributor but i just cant keep my hand steady enough get it right. So far i have 3 holes done but there has got to be some technique that makes it easyer or is doing spark plug wire always a pain to do? anyhow any tips would be greatly appreciated
