Just making the obligatory first post as the new guy. I've been hanging around here for a while, just watching the trends and checking out techniques. Since I just finished a model and wanted to post it, I decided now was as good a time as any to join.
Been building for as long as I can remember, maybe 20 years now. Being in the Army has taken it's toll on actually finishing projects. I think I've finished a total of maybe 2 or 3 in the last 5-6 years. I build pretty much everything, cars, military, planes and helos, but I can't say I've ever tried my hand at shipbuilding. I'm happy to be around, and hopefully you'll all get to see some finished work from me, as opposed to the hundreds I have in progress.

Everyone knows that Opel is preparing to bring back the Calibra name, but an official debut is still a few years away. Until then, David Cardoso has created a very cool concept that may be a modern interpretation of the old Calibra. His concept is called Enigma and as you can see, it takes the Insignia design language to a sportier level.
The Enigma Concept is a sportive 4-seat coupe based on the platform of the Chevrolet Camaro. It will be offered with an all-wheel-drive and will be powered by the same engine as the OPC model.
When talking about his concept, David Cardoso says, that his "concept’s rear is inspired by the Insignia while the side and front have design features of the Astra GTC and the Flextreme concept."
We don’t know about you, but we would really like to see this concept put into production sometime in the near future. What do you think?

Of all the concepts Jeep rolled out at the 2012 Easter Safari in Moab, Utah, you’d be hard-pressed to find one any more imposing than the Mighty FC Concept.
Really, the name says it all.
Built in honor of the Jeep Forward Control that roamed our streets from 1956 to 1965, the Mighty FC Concept was built with the idea of bringing the old-school look of the Forward Control back while also taking into account maneuverability and overall utility.
In building the Mighty FC Concept, Jeep designers took a 2012 Wrangler Rubicon and reconfigured the whole set-up, including the repositioning of the cabin over and ahead of the front axle, the lengthening of the wheelbase, and the addition of a custom built drop-side cargo box. Moreover, the cab on the Mighty FC Concept makes use of a roof that Jeep took from Mopar’s JK-8 conversion kit while the addition of a custom-designed front clip makes for a more imposing look to the concept. As for the interior, Jeep dressed it up with a bold, heavy-duty Katzkin leather while the cargo area was set-up to fit a full-width, drop-side tray-style bed that measures more than eight feet in length.
More than just the old-school look of the Mighty FC, Jeep also wanted to improve the concept’s handling and drivability. For that, engineers added Mopar’s new Portal Axle set, which offers the greatest amount of ground clearance without requiring excessive suspension lift. These axles are controlled with King coil-over assemblies, and together with Teraflex control arms and track bars, a new set of 40" tires mounted on custom Hutchinson 17-inch headlock wheels, a Warn 16.5 winch, and a Corsa stainless steel exhaust system, it makes for a ride that performs as ferociously as it is intimidating to look at.

Hi all
This will be a “modern” tractor used for inner city deliveries and as a yard goat. I find a picture on Hanks Truck Picture from an ABF unit pulling a single axel probably 27 ft. trailer which impressed me and that is the reason for that idea.
First some facts to the truck:
1919 GMC Topkick
Single axel tractor
Engine Caterpillar 3208
Transmission 10 speed Eaton-Fuller RT-610
Air brake system
It will be a simple working truck a bit old and rusty
This truck is build up from old parts. The only thing which is new is the hood.
The parts:
Front bumper, grill with lights and the hood from P&P Resin Works
The frame and the front axel from Italeri
Tires and rims from Revell
The cab and the interior from AMT’s Chevrolet Silverado
The engine, transmission and the rear axel from AMT
And of course many parts from the spear box or better said from the junk yard
Here some pics from the start
I cut the hood away from the resin cab and the fenders from the AMT cab. I will use the AMT cab and the resin hood. The parts fit quite well but there is still some work to be done.
The frame is made out of some old Italeri frame parts. The entire holes I do not need were closed and sanded. Because the Italeri front leaf springs and the AMT rear leaf springs do not fit to each other I had to try some thing else. I used some old resin front leaf springs which are lower, with the Italeri front axel. The rear ones are from the Ford Louisville as well as the rear axel.
I put the cab with the hood on to the frame to see how it looks like. There is still a lot of work to be done but that little truck has a very special appearance.
I use Revel rims and tires from the Kenworth dumper. I reworked them and made some two hole rims out of them. I think this rims fit well to that truck. These tires have a modern shape and grate for that truck.
Then I started with the hood. I cut down the lower part from the radiator grill and glued it to the hood. The front part of the frame was cut away, and to holder for the hood were glued into the frame. The whole construction fits quite well.
I put the cab on the frame for a test.
The next step is the front grill. I drilled holes in to each pit and then cut the rest of the material out until you can look through them.
I worked out the holder for the cab. I am not sure if they are 100% original because I didn’t find any detail pictures on that parts but I think they are ok for a model.
The next step was the front bumper. I reworked the original holders on the back and stretched the frame a bit so that when the parts were glued together it s possible to turn the wheels with out problems.
As far as the two holes were already in the front bumper I decided to use them for some tow hooks.
And here the idea for the trailer, 27 feet are perfect in my opinion.
So long Arnd
